Image Beauty Bloggers

Danielle Gosha

A lot of what I do is highly attributed to being raised in Japan and my parents living all over the world. Living around the world nurtured a love for different cultures and a want to incorporate it into my daily life. Fashion is something I gradually got into thanks to my artistic background and the exploration of human’s as characters and how their clothing molds them.

I have been a fashion designer for 12+ years and a lot of what I do ties into my own sense of style. I treat my body as a blank canvas every day so I definitely love any look that I can use to transform myself to fit my mood for the day. Incorporating masculine styles in my wardrobe is something I do regularly as I feel it really adds an extra something to my look when I need it. I think Kate Lanphear does an amazing job at pulling this off. She wears a lot of black too, which I love. Black will forever be a staple in my wardrobe. I don’t just have the little black dress; I have the little black everything. I wouldn’t classify my style as I change it very often but, I have been called very bohemian.

When it comes to beauty and fashion I think it’s important to stay true to who you are but, never be afraid to try things out. People are like the characters in books so there’s a lot of growth and change. We change our style to fit the current chapter our character finds him or her in. Life is about exploring and beauty and fashion have so many infinite possibilities that you find yourself learning something new every day. It’s also an art form, especially the makeup aspect of it, which I really got into after learning theatrical makeup and working backstage as a wardrobe technician for an opera.

I am currently finishing up my last year in college, studying fashion design for my Bachelors of Science. When I’m not writing or editing for blogs, taking part in fashion shows or working on a new collection, I’m illustrating, listening to music or trying to catch up on the sleep I sometimes miss out on in my busy life.

I’ve loved fashion and style ever since my childhood; I had two sisterly women in my life who taught me many important lessons, like how to put Kohl eyeliner on in a moving car sans mirror, and why I should never, ever get a perm. Being overweight in my teenage years really shaped the way I approach beauty, as it showed me that self love is ultimately what’s important. As I grew, my image has changed to match what I like. From grunge and punk rock to straight up girliness, I admire it all. I find my current inspiration in David Bowie, Grace Jones and Kate Middleton, which results in me being overtly feminine with fashion and makeup but androgynous with my hair.

I am excited to contribute to the Image Beauty blog because I love the way the perfect shade of lipstick or a new haircut can brighten my day; amazing stilettos have heeled my spirit after break ups (bad pun intended); the day I finally deciphered eyeliner, I was so excited that I called my friends and updated my MySpace status. I know the frustration of being stuck with seemingly simple questions with complicated answers (like whether to put on fake eyelashes before or after applying eye makeup, a controversial subject I am very passionate about). I am excited to talk about beauty tips that easily transition from walking down runways to walking down the street. Beauty in real life; I hope to pass along to readers my personal life lessons with a smile and a wink.

Besides fashion, I indulge myself with food and travel. I recently journeyed to Paris and London, and plan on visiting Spain and Croatia in March, 2013.
