icecube2There are many natural remedies that have been prescribed to enhance beauty and give your skin an amazing glow.  Some of these are found in the beauty products that we use today. Coconut oil, fruits, vegetables, green tea, mint leaves . . . they can all be digested or applied to your skin. However, there is perhaps one natural ingredient that seems to trump all others. I’ll give you a hint, it has been around for millions of years and life as we know it cannot live without it.  Give up?  It is Water.

Here are a few ways water can assist in enhancing beauty:

Weight Loss:

One of the best things about water is that It helps control your calorie intake.  Drinking a glass of water before a large meal will trick your scalesstomach into thinking it is full, which will help you suppress those calories that would have been ingested if you just ate food.  Every time you get hungry during non-mealtime, you can substitute a glass of water to hold you over until your next meal.

A great way to use water in your favor is as a substitution.  If you drink more than one soft drink a week, you may want to reconsider those calories and go for a nice refreshing glass of water instead.  You will not only miss calories, but you will take in a more essential nutrient to your body.

Skincare:

Skin is a very important when it comes to beauty.  Have you ever tried covering up blemishes or zits with copious amounts of makeup?  Why not try a different remedy.  Your skin is the most permeable part of your body.  It allows in nutrients and releases sweat and oils, but a lot of the time it can also breed bacteria.  What comes in and what goes out is dependent on the size of your pores.  The larger the pores, the greater the Drinking-Water1chance bacteria can build up.  A big cause of large pores is dehydration.  Water will help to revive skin, shrink your pores, and allow your skin cells to replenish themselves and clear out any bad bacteria and toxins.

Another great way that water will help skin is by reducing aging.  If you keep your skin healthy and hydrated, you reap the benefits for years to come. Keep drinking that water and your moist and soft skin will repay you tenfold.

Haircare:

When your body is dehydrated, one of the first reserves it turns to is your hair. The result is that your hair will lose its healthy bounce and sheen, and grow slower as well. Drinking plenty of H20 will provide new nourishment to your scalp and strands, and energize cell growth.

Visibility and Mood:

All of us have those nights when we have had too much to drink and we wake up with a headache.  You may not even hathrobbing_headache_1419_xve drank anything and just have a migraine.  Either way, the feelings that you have inside will directly correlate to your outer appearance.  Trying to look great when you have a splitting hangover can prove to be quite an uphill battle.

The reason you get a headache is that the cells in and around your brain are shrinking due to lack of water.  This is also true for other cells in your body and can cause fatigue.  Dehydration is the number one cause for this shrinking.  When your cells are small and lack water, they cannot run as fast and efficiently as those that are constant replenished. Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it makes you lose a lot of fluid. It may not help at first, but best practices state that, when drinking, you should at least drink a glass or two of water before you go to sleep at night, and the same when you wake up.  If you replenish your water intake throughout, your body will thank you in the morning.

So remember, water plays a large role in your health and appearance, so drink it at every opportunity.  If you keep this one beauty tip in mind and continue to stick with it, your body will thank you.
